At the moment, this Duo offers two programmes:
- Franz Schubert’s “Die schöne Müllerin” in a version with guitar accompagnment: Shortly after the first publishing of the song cycle “Die schöne Müllerin” a version with guitar accompagnment authorized by Schubert was also released by his publisher Diabelli. The guitar was often used instead of a piano in intimate performances among Schubert’s friends. Schubert himself played the guitar, probably many of his compositions are based on the guitar (especially parts of the cycle “Die schöne Müllerin”).
- English lute songs of the renaissance: John Dowland’s songs express sensuality, lust and vitality on the one hand, on the other hand sadness, melancholy and depression. Benjamin Britten made in some of his compositions a tribute to the music of Dowland, particularly in his “Nocturnal after John Dowland” Op. 70 based on the song “Come heavy sleep” for guitar solo. This programme is completed by a few songs written by Henry Purcell.
